Q: When I try to download the magazine and select "Open" rather than "Save" the file seems to download but then I get an error saying the document could not be found or the file does not exist. Why is this?

A: Some of the older Internet browsers, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, have problems downloading and viewing PDF files from the Internet. If you are using an older Internet browser there are a few options that you could try: 1) Download the latest version of your Internet Browser or try out one of the alternatives to Internet Explorer such as Firefox or Chrome; 2) When you download the magazine, select "Save" rather than "Open".


Q: When I view the magazine it does not automatically save a copy to my computer. Why is this?

A: When you click on one of our magazine editions you will be given the option to either "Open" or "Save" the document. To save a copy of the magazine to your computer you need to opt for "Save", not "Open".
For optimal viewing of the Global Sheltie Magazines, we recommend that you download/save a copy of the document to your computer and then view it directly from there. This will give you a faster response while viewing the document and will mean that you only have to download the document once. To follow these recommendations, click on the magazine link and then select "Save File" or "Save" when prompted.


Q: I have downloaded a copy of the magazine to my computer but when I click on the file to open it, it does not show me the magazine. Why is this?

A: Our magazines are published as PDF files (Adobe portable document format files). To view a PDF file you need to install the Adobe PDF document viewer (called Adobe Reader). Adobe Reader (formerly known as Acrobat Reader) is available as a no-charge download from the Adobe website, and allows the viewing and printing of PDF files.


Q: I can download and view the magazine but hyperlinks such as email addresses within the magazine do not work when I click on them. Why is this?

A: Our magazines are published using the latest version of the Adobe publishing software. In order to utilise all of the latest functionality you will need to ensure that you have the latest version of Adobe Reader. We recommend that you download and use Adobe Reader version 9.
